Denotations and Connotations

The advert shows a young kid with ripped clothes who looks likes he's struggling and it says "Dig toilets , Not graves " which is implying that they need toilets and not graves when they die from starvation.

The company who made the advert (Water Aid) have purposely used a sad catchphrase that will bring the audience in my making them feel sad for the child in the advertisement.

They dig toilets not graves catchphrase they've used to indicate that they are dying in the area that they live in because of the starvation and thirst of the country that they live in.
